101 Proudmoore Way: Cycle Five [Proudmoore Valley, Proudmoore Family] — Mao @ 5:11 pm

Residents: Daelin & Anna Proudmoore; Jania Proudmoore & Blazej Jeffress

Anna: Things around here are really changing… for the better, I suppose. Oh, what? Right. Hi there. Let’s just get on with it. I’ve got knowledge to persue, you know.

I’m sure you’ve already heard about Jania’s newest boyfriend, Blazej. I suppose I should refer to him as her fiancĂ©, as they are engaged. Not that it means much. I don’t see them getting married anytime soon. I’m going to come right out and say that the only reason they even got engaged was so Blazej could live here! Jania knew her father wouldn’t allow it any other way.

Daelin is rather dense, though, and he doesn’t see it. The two are blissfully happy not being married. Jania may not be my favorite person in the world, but I will say that she is fiercely independent. I can’t see her marrying a man and settling down. Instead, I see her toppling our political structure… for good, or worse.

Of course, just because my husband isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate him. It is because of him that I no longer have to clean houses for a living. I don’t even have to work! I can just spend my days with my nose in a book. Sure, I had to birth a child… but with Jania around, it wasn’t that bad. Speaking of Alice, she’ll be graduating soon. Daelin is excited. He wants Alice to come home.

He is a very silly man. Come home? This house is full as it is! Sure, we remodeled with the money Daelin brought home as a bonus one day… but goodness. I don’t see her coming home. I have the sneaking suspicion she will find a place with Davina and Sade.

Regardless of what I think about their little scheme, I don’t really mind Blazej. He isn’t a bad person, and he’s actually a lot more tolerable than Jania. I just wish he weren’t so… free. He’s a very, very outgoing person and doesn’t seem to fear anything. Not even the scrutinizing eye!

I was taking my time leaving the bathroom one morning and Blazej just comes in and hops into the shower! I know he had to hurry for work, but goodness. There are two upstairs! Though, I suppose in retrospect, Jania and Daelin could have been occupying them.

Jania especially. She hasn’t been feeling well lately. I knew what it was before she even complained about it. The trained eye can catch anything, even the most subtle of hints. It seems our political crusader hadn’t been as careful as she thought.

I never really thought that maybe she wasn’t being careful in the first place. Who would want to have a child, much less one out of wedlock?

Though, perhaps my morals and thoughts are a little aged now, much like my body. That’s right… my birthday came and I joined my husband in the land of gray hair and aching joints. It isn’t so bad. I have even more excuses not to do anything but study my days away.

I decided a change was in order and chopped off my hair. It always got in the way. The only reason I kept it long was for Daelin. He was so estactic that we made it to our Golden Anniversary he could’ve cared less about my hair. It was strange. From then on, he was the happiest I’d ever seen him.

Speaking of which, Alice dropped by for my birthday. She and her father had quite the talk. He’d heard rumors about the going ons of her Greek House and was immensely worried. Alice did her best to reassure him. Of course it was all a facade. I could tell all the way from across the room. The girl was utterly heartbroken.

Still, if she were to let Daelin know, his duty to his family might get the better of him. Ties with the Derico’s were already a little unsteady ever since the wedding. It was a very tense occassion as it was, with all the fighting and family glares. Then Jania had to go and give Marisa a piece of her mind. Apparently she thought the woman was a hag. I was enraged. Marisa is an acquaintance of mine. She is no hag!

Thankfully we didn’t have it out, because soon Jania was showing. Daelin was estactic. Jania and Blazej made excuses as to why they wouldn’t have the wedding now. He seemed to buy it, or not care. He was going to have a grandchild and that’s all that seemed to matter. It was just a bonus that it would carry the Proudmoore name.

I’ll never understand this ‘duty to family’ code these Proudmoore’s seem to have. Its very bizarre and made for some very interesting watching. No, I don’t much consider myself a Proudmoore aside from the name. It doesn’t take the most observant of person to see that I certainly don’t belong in that catergory.

Though I do find myself faltering at times. I had a discussion with Blazej the other day. I was curious as to whether or not he loved Jania. She was very pregnant by now and while Daelin wouldn’t speak it, he was worried Blazej would run out since they weren’t married.

As I assumed, his responses were always positive. You’d swear Jania were some kind of idol to him. I’d see him less as her fiancĂ© and more some sort of worshipper. It was a little disturbing, but I admired his devotion. It explained why he didn’t care when Jania had that one-night fling with her college lover, Sterling, when they were together.

That didn’t mean that Blazej was a saint. He was fired from his job for making a stupid decision. Jania was almost as upset as he was. She said he needed to go back there and apologize, grovel, do whatever it took. Jania is a lot of things, but I can say she is very passionate about life goals. Blazej wanted to be top dog in the cooking world, and by golly, he was going to be it.

It was amusing to watch, if anything. He did eventually get his job back, but was forced to start at a lower position.

It was no wonder Jania was so moody with him about the job. She was on the last legs of her pregnancy. Her water broke late one night when she was doing her nightly cleaning rounds. It was something she started at the beginning of her pregnancy. Her sleeping schedule was bizarre and when she was awake, we were all sleeping, so she found something to occupy her time.

I know this because she was in our bathroom when the event happened. Daelin was up in a heartbeat and off to the hospital they went. Blazej and I weren’t far behind.

We returned home with healthy baby boy Louis Proudmoore. I was surprised to see it was a boy. The Proudmoore’s seemed more prone to having girls. Nevertheless, he was a quiet baby I rarely noticed. For this I was thankful. I was nearly finished with my studies and I really didn’t need the wailing cries of an upset baby disturbing me.

The birth of his grandson made Daelin want to spend all the time he could with him. They’d need a nanny, yes, and knew I wouldn’t do it. Daelin wanted to retire. Jania told him absolutely not. He would not retire early and lose his pension. He only had a bit more to go. They could make do until then. Daelin accepted his daughter’s decision, but didn’t mind pouting around the house about it.

Old men… they can be such children at times.

Despite all this hooplah, everything is starting to fall into a quiet pattern here at the house. I like it. I can study in peace. Daelin will be retiring soon and I really need to finish my studies so he isn’t always interrupting me. Jania is one step away from becoming Mayor of the Valley… though, she’s a definite shoo-in. She’s very charismatic and there aren’t any paparazzi yet to expose oh unruly she acts to her step-mother. Blazej balances work and Louis nicely. I don’t think there is anymore fear that he’s going to flee anytime soon.
