Breakfast was the only time they really got together, so it was normally spent discussing daily events and whatnot. One morning, however, Lila dropped quite a bomb.
“Mom,” She began, slightly hesitant. “A man called for you the other day…”
Kitty’s stomach dropped, “W-What?”
“He didn’t leave a message or anything… it was really weird… he thought I was you.”
It took a moment for Kitty to catch her breath enough to talk, “Don’t worry about it, sweetie… it was… probably just someone from the studio or something.”
Lila frowned, not happy with her mother’s answer. The rest of the breakfast continued normally, though it was obvious both of their minds were elsewhere.

Sometime afterward, Kitty got a phone call from the Academy. Lila’s grades had dropped considerably and she hadn’t handed in a home assignment for days. Kitty cornered her daughter after school one day, confronting her about the phone call. Lila feigned ignorance, and when that didn’t work, she broke into sobs.
Ever since becoming a teenager, Lila’s focus had changed. She was no longer interested in books or schoolwork. No, now her focus was boys. Not just one boy, a lot of boys. She loved the attention. Unfortunately, her grades suffered.
Kitty reprimanded her and made her go finish all the overdue assignments. Lila pouted all the way to her desk. She’d never been scolded before.
